The Mechanical Engineering Student Society was established early 2010 by a small group of mates with a common interest - to provide QUT engineering students, particularly mechanical, a network platform that supports them academically and socially. With this objective in hand, as well as the determination of our founders, MESS began to grow, develop and mature as a student society. Over the years, campus life and culture at QUT has exploded where more and more students are enrolling and student societies are being established exponentially. Each of these clubs provide students, each with their own interests and hobbies, a place to call home away from home while at uni. This allows students to comfortably express themselves but to also be exposed to opportunities that they may not have been able to experience if they weren't part of that society. Due to this expansion and cultivation of QUT's campus culture and a focus on providing students with amazing opportunities, MESS planned to evolve as well by including wider ranges of events and occasions that contribute to and advances a student's journey while at QUT. From its humble beginning with an academic and social focus, QUT MESS has now broadened its scope to include and provide industry networking opportunities and to give back to the community through charitable causes and activities. In turn, this has resulted with the society's rapid expansion within a short time frame and doesn't show of any sign of slowing down. It's due to that small group of mates with a big idea that mechanical engineering students have had the opportunities that they have had during this chapter of their life and for that we thank them. |
